Grenzebach Group

A seamless approach to Production Line Installation

Summary

Grenzebach Group is a global automation specialist renowned for supporting the global glass, building materials and intralogistics markets.

AIS Vanguard was engaged to provide lifting and moving expertise at Grenzebach’s operation in Bristol as part of the global specialist’s first-ever project to install equipment in the UK. The project required the mechanical installation of a new plasterboard production line.

Responsible for complete site management, health & safety, and supporting the client within the CDM requirements under principal contractor Mclaughlin Harvey, AIS Vanguard leveraged decades of industry experience to provide a comprehensive seven-figure work package.

The Solution

AIS Vanguard successfully delivered this highly varied and resource-intensive project with zero incidents. With limited installation experience in the UK, Grenzebach called on AIS Vanguard’s vast expertise in tailored machine lifting, moving, and logistics to provide a complete turnkey solution.

AIS Vanguard’s in-house project managers spent several months devising a detailed 12-month plan of work that met the client’s project drivers and leveraged the team’s capabilities and resources, tried-and-tested methods, and unwavering commitment to health and safety.

This level of care was fundamental to the programme as work was being delivered on a live construction site, with large volumes of equipment arriving simultaneously and often in dire weather conditions.

More than 150 high-trained specialist lifting, moving, and mechanical personnel were deployed from Vanguard’s national network of branches as part of the project, making it one of the company’s most significant labour requirements.

The project also used Vanguard’s specialist mechanical fitting, pipework installation and welding expertise, as well as its in-house fleet of specialist plant & lifting equipment, including rigging, jacks, and skates.

Three vetted supply chain partners provided specialist support at critical stages of the programme.

Greenhatch (survey and setting out work), DC Welding, and Jefferis Engineering (wet additive piping works worked under the direction of the AIS Vanguard project manager.
